Homemade Hummingbird Nectar
I saw a hummingbird at my empty feeder this morning. I felt bad seeing the tiny, hungry bird at my empty feeder, so I decided to refill it. I like to make hummingbird nectar with the simple ingredients I always have on hand versus buying it from the store. I thought creating this post would be an easy way for me to find back the recipe whenever I would need it. This recipe was found on the National Audubon Society website. Hopefully you find it helpful as well!
Ingredients/Materials:
- 1/4 cup refined white sugar (or granulated sugar)
- 1 cup boiling water
- Measuring cup
- Spoon
- Hummingbird feeder
Steps:
- Fill a glass measuring cup with 1 cup of water. Put it in the microwave for about 2 minutes or until boiling.
- Pour 1/4 cup granulated sugar into the boiling water and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Let the water and sugar mixture cool.
- Pour it into your hummingbird feeder and hang outside.
- Wait and watch for the hummingbirds to come!
That's it! Super simple. Here is the link to the recipe from the National Audubon Society: https://www.audubon.org/news/how-make-hummingbird-nectar
